Contrary to many visions and warnings digitization has not replaced the printed word. Quite the reverse, the more digitization progresses, the more glamorous the history of the printed book appears. Books are full of ideas & inspiration. At the same time, new technologies allow us to enter into a closer relationship and an open exchange with our readers.

At bookbridge, we are therefore exploring stunning new possibilities of expanding our books into the colorful, blockchain-based world of Web 3.0 and experiment with connections between the physical and digital content worlds.

bookbridge collectibles are digital originals or NFTs that tokenize unique Fine Art content connected to and/ or inspired by our printed books – inviting our readers to give it a try, to continue learning, to send out a signal and do good – or to simply enjoy and have fun.

bookbridge collectibles come as 1/1 originals, as limited series or – seldomly, for a certain period of time – as open editions; like printed books.

Monika Czernin

Monika Czernin is an internationally renowned filmmaker and author who started her career as a journalist for Austrian Radio and Television. At that time, she also ran the contemporary art page of a national daily paper. Focusing on central figures and turning points in European history, her book Anna Sacher und ihr Hotel was on the Spiegel bestseller list for weeks and her book Der Kaiser reist incognito was chosen by the Süddeutsche Zeitung magazine in February 2022 in the list of the 100 books you should have read in your lifetime.
She is also the 2023 winner of highly regarded Friedrich Schiedel Literature Prize of the city of Bad Wurzach

Melissa Müller

Before she became known as a biographer and screenwriter, Melissa Müller headed the media and new media section of a German monthly magazine. Her books, exploring both victims and perpetrators of the Third Reich, are international bestsellers, available in more than 25 languages. Anne Frank (Das Mädchen Anne Frank) was unanimously hailed as a "landmark biography”, its film adaptation won several Emmy Awards. Until the Final Hour. Hitler's Last Secretary was a number one Spiegel bestseller on the list for more than a year and served as template for Oscar-nominated Downfall.

Monika Czernin and Melissa Müller founded bookbridge as a writer and artist collective. Together, they stand for profound documentary storytelling. For deep research. For education and edutainment. For over 20 years, they have repeatedly developed joint projects. Apart from Picasso's Barber they realized several historical TV documentaries.

Together, we are bookbridge. Why bookbridge?

Creatively connecting the traditional world of books to new blockchain technologies, we fancy the manifold meaning of the word bridge as symbol of communication and union, of connection or transition.

In the analog world, we enjoy building bridges between old school readers and crypto-natives, reminding them how much they have in common.

In the digital web3 context, a bridge is a protocol which links blockchain systems together, allowing users from one system to send assets and information to another.
