In her picture transfers, the artist Jeanne Szilit invites the viewer to dive into the invisible emotional landscapes of movie stars like Marilyn Monroe. Photographing what can't be photographed, she shows their desire, anguish, glory - with other words, their souls.

The Artist

Jeanne Szilit lives and works in Vienna, Austria. She studied painting, literature, philosophy and film. Her works are sold in high-end auctions and are represented in important private collections and museums (Klimt Foundation, Museum of Modern Art Vienna, Collection III Museum Leopold Vienna).

Her work is frequently shown at international art fairs such as ART BEJING, China, ROMA CONTEMPORARY, Italy, SCOPE MIAMI BEACH, USA, ART COLOGNE, Cologne, ART AUSTRIA, PARIS PHOTO, Grand Palais, and AIPAD New York City.

Initiated by her film studies Jeanne Szilit´s interest turned to photography. Since 2008 she has been combining her three different disciplines in a digital synthesis. In the process, she developed her own experimental form of photomanipulation.

We all know them, Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Brigitte Bardot, Greta Garbo, Catherine Deneuve, Angelina Jolie and many others.

We have our collective image stereotypes of them and our subjective (male?) desire for them. But that's not what Jeanne Szilit is about.

Jeanne Szilit's shimmering, beautiful visual worlds evoke a longing for immortality: techno-imaginaries of extraordinary intensity.
