One hundred of the most exciting cats from the Punkrock Cats from Harajuku project are now published as NFTs on Creatokia.

The drops are accompanied by different products, which are either made available to the whole community or only to the owners of a specific cat.

Since the summer of 2022, Jan Rathje has been exploring AI image generators. What initially started as a gimmick for diversion quickly developed into a passion. With initially free apps, he tried to explore the limits of the technology.

The results were amazing and even a little creepy. His question was and still is how this technology will change society and whether it can be used in a meaningful way in educational work. To give his experiments a theme, Jan decided to combine three of his areas of interest, and that's how the "Punkrock Cats," who live in Tokyo's Harajuku district, came to be.

With a selection of his works printed out, Jan ventured to the Frankfurt Book Fair. With his illustrations and concepts, it had always been difficult to get noticed by publishers before. Suddenly, a lot of people were interested in his pictures but were also partly put off by the fact that they had been created with artificial intelligence.

In order to give the whole thing a higher profile, Jan decided to travel to Tokyo on the off chance, with the firm intention of organizing an exhibition there with the art prints he had created in Germany. Without any knowledge of the Japanese language or the art market there, he was able to organize an exhibition space in a few hours and actually exhibit a few days later. The rest of the trip was also devoted entirely to the project. He approached rockers and punks about posing for his Instagram channel and engaged with artists and Japanese culture.

In January 2023, Jan Rathje led an AI workshop in South Africa, will host a punk rock exhibition in Barcelona in April, and speaks at various events about his project and the social changes that new technology will bring in the future.

What are AI picture generators?

AI picture generators are artificial intelligence systems that use deep learning algorithms to generate images. These algorithms use large datasets of images to learn patterns and generate new images that are similar to those in the dataset. They have a wide range of applications, including creating art, generating realistic images for video games and movies, and assisting in scientific research.

NFTs and Digital Originals

The "Punkrock Cats from Harajuku" NFts will be released every two weeks. First, there will be a so-called T-Drop, which is limited in time. There you can buy a Community Token for about 4,- Euro. Now you are part of the team and get access to the information and announcements on the community page.

After that there will be an initial drop with 10 motifs, which will be given away 10 times for free.

Once you have purchased a motif, you will get a 50% discount on the second and third dop, which will again include 10 motifs. These are, as with the following, unique. If you have purchased a motif, no one else has a claim to it. However, the author, i.e. Jan, retains the right to show this motif in exhibitions and publications. A cat costs 50 (or with the discount 25) Euro at first. However, this price increases with the following drops. From the fourth it is 100, from the sixth 120 and from the 8th 150 euros. In total there are 10 drops in this project.

With each drop you get a "goody", which can be digital or virtual (download). If you live in Europe and give your address, you get some even sent by mail. There are stickers, postcards, buttons, an exclusive coffee table book about Tokyo, a video, t-shirts and finally a book with all motives of this project. This can then be purchased via Creatokia or in stores.
